This is more of an announcement that a normal blog entry but I’m pretty excited about it!
When I decided to do this motorcycle trip, a big part of it is to explore and find new places to kiteboard. But that makes a problem. How would I carry all of my gear comfortably on my motorcycle? My initial plan was to use one of my foil kites and my ageing Flysurfer Flysplit board(it separates in two halves). I’ve used this board on our month long trip to Sri Lanka and loved how easy it was to travel with. It is getting pretty old but I figured that was perfect since I’m sure this trip will be hard on my year.
But then another problem arose. I just started to learn how to use a hydrofoil and I really enjoy it. Also with a hydrofoil, I can kite in much lower winds which means more kiting for me, yay win. But there was no way I could strap that sucker on my bike.
Well I found out Nobile was releasing a Split hydrofoil setup. I like Nobile, was planning on replacing my splitboard with one of theirs because they have a complete tool less feature which I love. I decided to contact them and see if I can do some advertising for them on my trip and work out a deal. Well long story short, they have agreed to sponsor me on this trip and set me up with an entire quiver of kites and boards.
It has been a very long time since I have kited with inflatable kites but I did some research and it seems like their T5 kites are actually quite excellent. Yes yes, I’ll have to pump, but I’m kinda looking forward to the differences and this may help progress my kiteboarding skills. Plus their hydrofoil setup is fantastic and I see many sessions out of it and their NHP Splitboard. So yes thank you again Nobile! Here’s their video of the Zen Split Hydrofoil.
In other news I also designed some stickers for the website so if you want one, let me know and I’ll send it to you. Be on the lookout along the Pan American because I made 100 of them so I’ll be putting them about everywhere as I venture South.
